ABOUT US

Adam Englund, Principal and CEO

Adam Englund has been in solo practice for over 42 years.  He negotiates and documents transactions in most aspects of entertainment law, business entity formation and operation, contracts, intellectual property and estate planning.

Nursed on a Broadway stage, Adam grew up in the biz.  So entertainment clients came to him naturally.  Though at first hoping to branch out in a direction far from Hollywood, he became enamored with the complexities of entertainment agreements and the colorful personalities with unique requirements.  He found creativity in sculpting multi-party solutions and drafting win-win agreements.

Intellectual property was a natural out-growth out of the rights-based business of entertainment.  In addition to copyright and trade secrets, Adam has prosecuted numerous trademarks and is a registered attorney with the United States Patent and Trademark Office and specializes in licensing agreements.

Many of Adam’s entertainment clients have been independent film producers.  Essentially, each production is a start-up business.  Similarly, he has found a lot of joy in laying the legal foundation to launch businesses in many varied industries, including non-profits.

When he moved to Encinitas, San Diego County in 1997, he realized that there was less opportunity for entertainment law.  So, he expanded the practice to estate planning.  In this area, he has found the opportunity to help his clients, from young families to terminal patients, manifest their legacies.

Ultimately, Adam strives to help his clients lay the legal foundation to find meaning in their lives -whether through artistic expression, the creation of a business enterprise or cause-based organization or through providing the financial means for their loved ones to prosper once they are gone.
